Winner winner, Women’s Champions League quaterfinals dinner!
A perfectly perfunctory effort from the Chelsea Ladies in Malmo tonight has seen Emma Hayes’ side advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in team history. The draw will be made next Friday.
Chelsea held a comfortable, commanding 3-0 lead from the first leg, making just one change to today’s starting lineup from last week and giving the enthusiastic Erin Cuthbert a run-out over Fran Kirby up top. The extra running and pressing she provided was helpful in containing the home side’s threat, who posed very little danger throughout the game despite their predicament on the aggregate scoreboard.
After a scoreless first-half, Ji sealed the deal for Chelsea early in the second, finishing off a good cross from Crystal Dunn via a deflection.

Chelsea had the luxury to play out the remaining 40 or so minutes with a minimum of effort, not that the rest of the game required too much more. Not sure Lindahl was required to even make a save tonight to collect her clean sheet.
Job done. Well played. Onto the next round!
