More injury news for the women’s team, though this one’s slightly less impactful than Sam Kerr’s ACL injury as Nicky Evrard hadn’t actually been involved with the Chelsea first-team this season.
After signing in the summer, the 28-year-old had gone on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion, where she’s made just one start. And unfortunately, that’s all she’s going to get after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty with Belgium. She’s undergone surgery now, with Chelsea confirming that she’s “expected to be sidelined for a significant period of time”. Not great!
Hopefully Evrard can be back by next season. While Chelsea are pretty well set in the goalkeeping department at the moment, with Zećira Mušović, Ann-Katrin Berger, and Hannah Hampton, who knows what the future might hold, especially with Berger who isn’t getting any younger.
Get well soon, Nicky!
