Chelsea FCW have been playing some of the best football in Europe, leading the Women’s Super League with 38 points from 15 matches and a tremendous +39 goal difference. Our efforts last month were certainly commendable, as we won four out of four in the league, including a 2-1 win over (at the time still) title-rivals Manchester United.
Similarly, Fran Kirby has been in scintillating form all season, and January was no different. She not only scored the winning goal against United, but had a perfect performance against her former team (and favourite opponent) Reading, scoring four goals in a 5-0 win.
Those were certainly strong cases for both Kirby and manager Emma Hayes to win some monthly awards. And they duly did so indeed, collecting the Player and Manager of the Month prizes for January. Congrats!
We’re delighted to announce that January’s Barclays Player and Manager of the Month are @frankirby and @emmahayes1 of @ChelseaFCW in the @BarclaysFAWSL. Congratulations! ⚽️

Unfortunately we have to wait until March 3 to see Kirby & Co back in action, when Chelsea take on Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Women’s Champions League Round of 16.
