Having seen off French opposition in the quarter-final in the shape of PSG, thanks to a last gasp goal from midfielder Maren Mjelde, Chelsea will be hoping for another historic victory.
Although the Blues have reached the semi-final stage in each of the last two seasons, this meeting with Lyon will be the toughest European test that Chelsea have faced since debuting in the competition in 2014. Lyon have won the last three Champions League titles, as well as having a 12-year hold on the French league — with a 13th straight title all but theirs after smashing PSG last weekend, 5-0.
Hayes describes Lyon as the best team in Europe for a number of years. They have earned that right and have top players and the biggest budget. A big opponent but one we are definitely looking forward to be playing. #OLCFC
