It’s nothing official (yet), but Chelsea have made the decision to recall Andrey Santos from Nottingham Forest, reports The Athletic. This decision was said to be under consideration a couple weeks ago, though one would assume it’s been a foregone conclusion for quite some time.
Santos’s time at Forest has been a giant waste of everyone’s time, with the 19-year-old midfielder limited to just two appearances including a start in the League Cup and a 7-minute cameo in the Premier League. He didn’t even make the bench in seven of Forest’s thirteen league games, including the last two.
Whether Santos isn’t ready or manager Steve Cooper just simply doesn’t rate him, it’s almost immaterial. The young midfielder needs competitive minutes to ensure his continued development and progression.
So another loan is likely for the youngster, though his opportunities may be slightly limited (sorry, Strasbourg) as we’re currently full up on international loan slots at seven ... though obviously that might change in January as well.
