The Gabriel Moscardo situation has gotten a bit spicier this week, with PSG coming in hot in response to rumors of Chelsea getting the deal over the line.
Unfortunately, those (poorly sourced) rumors in Brazilian media at the start of the week were quickly debunked by reporting from Fabrizio Romano (and others). In fact, it’s quite unclear what Chelsea’s interest and standing might be in this situation now, with reports ranging from us being completely out to us simply making no progress after seeing our bid knocked back in the summer.
“It’s all nonsense that’s coming out [about a Chelsea deal in the press]”
-Guiliano Bertolucci, representative; source: ESPN
Chelsea are of course far from the only team pursuing the 18-year-old Corinthians midfielder, who’s in a great position to pick from the cream of the crop in Europe. Barcelona appeared to be the leading candidates for a while now, but not if PSG have anything to do with that. They’re said to be coming in hot, scheduling some meetings with Moscardo’s representatives and presumably outbidding everyone else in the process because they can.
