We have just about a month to go until the transfer window opens once again, so it’s time to oil up those sticky transfer rumor keys!

But not too much! It sounds like we may be looking at a quiet(er) January than last time out, with only “two or three” first-time signings targeted, with an equal number of departures to occur as well.

That’s per the dispatch from Matt Law in the Telegraph yesterday, which assures that unlike prior windows under the current administration, we definitely won’t be going ham in the market and bloating the squad beyond usability. Definitely. Definitely maybe. Once Eghbali gets the itch, only an Osimhen will soothe it.

Speaking of whom, the report seems to pour water on the Telegraph’s own exclusive from the day prior, claiming that we would have “drastically alter [our] recent approach over wages” to have a shot at the striker. See also: Ivan Toney.

Still, a “top class striker” is a priority, and “defensive reinforcements could be considered”.

On the outgoing side, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr are expected to leave and we will “listen to offers” for Ian Maatsen and possibly Conor Gallagher — despite him wanting to stay and Mauricio Pochettino making him a key player. And Armando Broja and Noni Madueke could be looking at potential loans, depending on our incoming activity.

A bit of stability and cohesion would be nice indeed. We’ve got to build some continuity at some point!
