Trevoh Chalobah is expected to leave Chelsea in January, having not played at all since preseason, but his options could be a bit more limited than we might have imagined. According to the latest rumblings out of Germany, both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have soured on the idea, citing the 24-year-old defender’s injury issues.
I’ve assumed all along that those injuries were not really anything serious, and were essentially just a convenient explanation for Chalobah’s complete absence from the team. But it seems that there may be more to them than that. For example, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claims that Chalobah won’t be fit again until the end of January, and while that doesn’t really seem that big of a problem for a potential January transfer, it’s apparently enough to cause both Bundesliga giants to drop out.
So that’s unfortunate, but I’m sure there will be plenty of other teams interested in Chalobah’s services this January. Only a matter of time before AC Milan or AS Roma pop in with a loan request, right?
FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund are both out of the race for Trevoh #Chalobah. Both clubs are not planning his transfer in winter. #BVB #CFC
