According to multiple reports, Chelsea and Inter Milan have agreed a €115m transfer fee for Romelu Lukaku, and the deal is expected to be finalized, signed, sealed, and delivered shortly. Medicals, final dots and crosses, and actual signatures are still to go, but surely are just formalities now.

Here we go, as some might say.

Talks in the last couple days zeroed in on the final transfer fee, all cash. Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) and Sky Sports reported that we put €110m on table, with a player included. Inter wanted €120m, straight cash, but we managed to agree in the middle. Negotiating a €5m discount in a nine-figure deal is not exactly a big win, but it’s something — though there may be some bonuses and add-ons included as well, which might take the final price higher. Either way, it’s a club record and pretty much matches Manchester City’s £100m Premier League-record deal for Jack Grealish.

Incidentally, it was ten years ago this exact weekend that Lukaku first signed with Chelsea.

Welcome back, Romelu!

P.S.: No Messi for us, obviously. He’s close to finalizing a contract with PSG already!
