Things continue to move fairly quickly in the Romelu Lukaku situation, and a deal is expected to be agreed this weekend before a supposed Sunday deadline set by Inter. That’s according to the latest reports in the Daily Mail, Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) and Gazzetta dello Sport, with the latter making the claim that the two clubs will meet today (Friday) to hash out the financials involved.
Reports yesterday made it sound like there could be some potential reluctance in the Inter ranks to accept a bid, but that is apparently not going to be an actual issue — as long as Chelsea make the expected €120-130m offer, a number that hasn’t changed in many months and isn’t likely to do so now.
Personal terms with our former striker are not expected to be an issue at all. Lukaku reportedly wants to play for Tuchel (and has told Inter as much already) and certainly isn’t scoffing at Chelsea essentially doubling his salary either: weekly wages of £350k before taxes, as per the Mail, which would make him the highest paid player at the club by a decent 20 per cent margin (over N’Golo Kanté). Lukaku’s agent has even promised Inter fans an explanation in a now-deleted Instagram comment.
Here we go soon?
