Forgotten Chelsea man Ross Barkley ‘not heading’ to Burnley — report

Hey, remember Ross Barkley? You know, Ross the Boss? Lord Barkles? Preseason Messi? Ring a bell?

Evidently, few do recall the former Everton wunderkind at the minute, and one of those few who have, Burnley, are apparently out as well, with the BBC reporting in the last hour that a rumored loan move to Sean Dyche’s Clarets is “not happening”.

Follow-on speculation from various tabloids have added that Chelsea could thus be “forced” to keep the 27-year-old midfielder, though surely we can find some sort of move for him in the last few hours of the transfer window — if we can find one for Danny Drinkwater, surely we can find one for Ross Barkley!

Newcastle United and West Ham United had been tenuously linked at one point or another, though it’s been a very quiet window for Barkley after last season’s mediocre and injury-interrupted loan at Aston Villa. He has two years left on his Chelsea contract.
