After yet another summer of constant exit rumors and links to half the Italian Serie A, Tiémoué Bakayoko is once again heading out only on a temporary (albeit two-year-long) loan from Chelsea, joining AC Milan just like two years ago.
This is Bakayoko’s fourth loan in five seasons (including the current one) since joining Chelsea, and because it’s a longer deal, he has also extended his contract with us by two years, just in case we do eventually manage to recoup at least a portion of the £40m transfer fee we paid Monaco in 2017.
Milan, who are reportedly paying a loan fee somewhere in the region of €500k to €1.5m, also have a buy-option of around €15-20m, which then turns into a buy-obligation if certain conditions are met.
Bakayoko returns to Italy on loan.

We wish him all the best for the season.
Both Chelsea and Bakayoko would’ve preferred a straightforward transfer, but current market conditions being what they are made that even more unlikely than it had been in previous seasons. Hopefully, the 27-year-old midfielder can impress enough back at Milan to entice them to change this cycle for him, and for us.
Good luck, Timmy, hope you never give the ball away again!
