Kurt Zouma’s Chelsea career could be at an end before the transfer window shuts next Tuesday (August 31), with The Athletic’s David Ornstein reporting this morning that West Ham are ready to meet Chelsea’s €30m (£25-26m) asking price and a “verbal agreement” to that effect is already in place.
While Zouma’s not quite ready to agree personal terms just yet as he’s apparently looking for a “significant salary increase”, these talks have been going on for a while it would seem, and Zouma’s future at Chelsea is “looking dim” according to a recent update from L’Equipe (via Sport Witness).
At least it’s not Spurs!
If Zouma does end up leaving in the next few days, Chelsea would most likely return to Sevilla for another attempt at Jules Koundé to maintain numbers at center back, though with the asking price still hovering in the €70m range, if not more, that may not be as sure of a bet as some might claim.
There isn’t much time however with barely a week to go, so these decisions will have to be made soon.
