Malang Sarr was one of the many loan returnees and fringe players who made up the majority of the Chelsea squad at the start of preseason, and while the 22-year-old has done alright (save for one high profile error in the Spurs friendly), it never really looked like his future would be to remain with the first-team.
And sure enough, we have some interest in him according to Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports that Serie A side Bologna are in talks for a loan.
Sarr was an opportunistic signing for Chelsea last summer, as we snapped him on a free transfer from Nice, but the once very highly rated defender didn’t exactly move mountains in his season on loan at FC Porto. Perhaps he will have better luck in the Serie A?
Sarr does have four more years left on his Chelsea contract, so there’s certainly no rush to pull the plug on this project, just in case he does start to show glimpses of his former promise.
