Fiorentina were said to be “taking decisive steps” towards Davide Zappacosta this week, and it would appear that those steps were indeed taken and they were indeed decisive — or at least are set to be decisive if Alfredo Pedullà’s latest exclusive proves to be correct.
The Oracle of Sarri claims that Fiorentina have “total agreement” with both Chelsea and the 29-year-old right back for a season-long loan. Presumably a buy-option will be included, with Zappacosta apparently looking to start a new cycle in his career, though his contract at Chelsea’s also set to be extended to 2023 just in case that new cycle doesn’t actually materialize.
Though the agreements are in place, the deal evidently won’t be finalized until Pol Lirola’s move to Marseille from Fiorentina is finalized first. That’s supposed to happen any day now, so hopefully Zappacosta won’t have to wait for too much longer either.
Fiorentina begin their season this weekend, away to one of Zappacosta’s former loan teams, AS Roma.
