After weeks and months of indecision, patience, and delays, Chelsea winger Kenedy looked finally set to complete his loan move to Flamengo, having agreed to join the Brazilian champions for the next twelve months on loan, and with a buy-option built in, even!
But that move remains unofficial with a few signatures still missing, and will now also be delayed for several more days thanks to Kenedy reportedly testing positive for COVID-19. He’s evidently isolating (and undergoing further testing) and is thus expected to complete his move only next week (unless those further tests prove a false positive) — and assuming he recovers promptly since he is apparently experiencing some mild symptoms.
Kenedy is the second Chelsea player to test positive in the last few days, following Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The good news is that the routine testing continues to work and identify cases early. But hopefully this is as far as the spread goes for the squad; we’d rather not have to deal with an outbreak or anything of the sort.
