Fiorentina have been one of the on-again, off-again teams rumored to be interested in Chelsea spare part Davide Zappacosta, but La Viola could be going to a place where none of Genoa, Inter, or Atalanta have gone before, and actually make an actual move for the 29-year-old with one year left on his contract.
(Actually actually? We’ll see.)
That’s the word for Hot Days Pedullà at least, who claims that Fiorentina have overtaken Atalanta in this consolation of a consolation-bracket race, and are “taking perhaps decisive steps” towards a transfer that has been prompted by the impending departure of right back Pol Lirola to Olympique Marseille. Lirola was already on loan in Marseille last season, and will now join for good, for probably around €10-12m.
How much of that might Fiorentina be willing to spend on Zappacosta is anyone’s guess, though I’d start the guessing at a fairly small percentage. Surely, at this point, we’ll take anything as long as it’s valid currency.
