Chelsea youngster Trevoh Chalobah has had himself three solid-to-excellent seasons on loan in the Championship (Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town) as well as Lorient last season in the French top division, and yet that appears to still not be good enough to give him at least a chance with the Chelsea first-team.
And so, just as with his older brother, Nathaniel, we stand to lose yet another talented Academy player, if the reports of West Brom’s interest in the 22-year-old are true. Apparently the recently relegated Baggies are “in talks” with Chelsea ahead of their start to the season back in the Championship, and it sounds like they’re looking for more than just a loan, though reports do conflict a bit on that detail.

It would be most unfortunate to see the younger of the Chalobah leave without getting his shot. It may be logistically impossible to keep every promising Academy player, but it would be nice to see the pathways stay open at Cobham between the youth team and the first-team going forward as well. Giving chances to promising players would be a great way to ensure that.
West Brom are interested in signing Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah on a permanent deal. One to watch. #CFC
