Jorginho’s talkative agent has been making the rounds once again after his main man’s star turn in last night penalty shootout, as Italy booked their place in the Euro 2020 final, but this time he’s less about winking at teams in Italy and more about laying the groundwork for contract extension talks at Chelsea.
“Today, Jorginho’s valuation is around 50 million. If another team comes… [...] Did any club call me? Yes but our first thought is to speak with Marina Granovskaia about the renewal.
“This is certainly a very important moment in his career, he has been waiting for it for 20 years.”

Ice Traerginho has two years left on his current deal, which is certainly a good time to start talking about such things, especially as he will also turn 30 later this year in December, which is the semi-arbitrary cutoff point for multi-year deals at the club (though with a couple recent exceptions in David Luiz and a Willian offer).
That said, Chelsea do have higher priority extensions to discuss — almost all of our defenders above the age of 24 are entering the final year of their deals — and it’s also not at all obvious that giving Jorginho more years is the best way forward anyway. With interest in him in Italy always high, perhaps next summer could see a return to his adopted homeland instead?
Decisions, decisions.
