Chelsea were said to be one of the multitude of teams monitoring the highly rated and highly coveted young midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, especially after the 18-year-old rejected Stade Rennais’ contract extension offer at the end of the season, but there’s been little in the way of follow-up rumors after that.
And now, it sounds like Manchester United are making their move, and building on what’s already looking like an impactful summer transfer window with the signing of Jadon Sancho.
According to Fabrizio Romano, who seems to be delivering an actual story for once rather than just his customary churn, United are “in direct contacts” with Rennes, who are “open to negotiate” at just €30m. The asking price was reported at €40m a couple months ago, but with just a year left on the midfielder’s contract, Rennes appear to not be in a great position to demand even that much.

Rennes would be open to negotiate on potential €30m fee - as they’d lose Camavinga for free next summer.
He’s one of Man Utd long term targets - PSG have always been interested too.
At €30m, Camavinga could prove a tremendous bargain, even if Chelsea are pretty well set in midfield right now with the trio of N’Golo Kanté, Jorginho, Mateo Kovačić, and someone like Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conor Gallagher, Ross Barkley, or someone else from the Loan Army or the Academy. Neither Kanté nor Jorginho are getting any younger however, and Camavinga could be a key player for a long time for any team who manage to sign him.
