On a long enough timeline, every single one of Chelsea’s full backs and wing-backs will be linked with every single Serie A club by every single random Italian news outlet. We’re all part of the same compost heap after all.
The most recent variation(s) see David Zappacosta linked with Fiorentina, Napoli, and Genoa, though the latter would apparently still find it hard to meet our measly €12m valuation (no more loans). Zappacosta seemed quite happy on loan at Genoa last season; you’d think they’d be able to scare up a bit of loose change as reward. Alas.
With Napoli also notably linked with Emerson, it’s perhaps Fiorentina who might emerge on top of said compost pile, especially if they manage to agree a €12m deal — hey, that number looks familiar! — with Olympique Marseille for right back Pol Lirola, who was already there on loan last season.
Zappacosta was briefly linked with Inter Milan as well, but those rumors have died a quick death. He’s in the final year of his Chelsea contract.
