‘Any news about me?’: Haaland jokes with reporter about Chelsea speculation

Trolling the silliness of Silly Season

Erling Haaland looks set to stay at Borussia Dortmund, but that doesn’t mean he can’t have some fun with the incessant exit rumors and speculation, which continue to dominate the Chelsea rumor mill — especially in the absence of any moves from the Blues beyond arranging some loans for a few youngsters.

After all, he’s already known as a bit of joker and a troll when it comes to the media and rumors (not all that dissimilar to ol’e Eden Hazard in that regard, if you’re looking for good Champions of Europe omens). A couple years ago for example, Haaland poked fun at the all speculation surrounding his exit at RB Salzburg by posting a series of pictures to his Instagram signing the shirts of all the teams he was linked to (before choosing Dortmund).

This time, it was a bit less elaborate from the 20-year-old, as he simply inquired about his own transfer rumors from a nearby journalist. Sky Deutschland’s Jesco van Eichmann tells the story in this video.

“I had a little chat with him today, actually. He just passed by and asked me, ‘Hey are there any news about me?’

“I said, ‘No, actually, no. Chelsea still at £150 [million].’ And he was smiling and said, ‘No, I’m not that worth’.”

But did he mean “not worth THAT much” (i.e. less) or “NOT that much worth” (i.e. more)? Tricksy hobbitses!

Maybe we’ll find out one day.
