The Chelsea contingent at AFC Wimbledon continues to grow, with Academy youngster Henry Lawrence joining The Dons today on a season-long loan.
Lawrence, a very versatile, two-sided full back and midfielder (most often right back), will be turning 20 shortly. He has yet to make his senior debut, though he did get named to the bench against Bayern Munich in our final match of the 2019-20 season.
He is the third Chelsea man to arrive at Plough Lane this summer, joining new signing Luke McCormick and on-loan assistant coach James Simmonds.

Lawrence has two years left on his Chelsea contract and it appears that he did not sign an extension before heading out. That’s probably okay in this case.
Wimbledon finished towards the bottom end of the third division (i.e. League One), avoiding the drop by less than a handful of points. Their steady rise up the pyramid since being re-formed in 2002 has taken a pause at this level, but perhaps they can use this Chelsea connection to help them push on.
In any case, good luck, Henry!
