Transfer fees gating potential Alonso, Emerson moves to Inter Milan, Napoli — reports

Forever linked with Serie A returns

Chelsea left backs Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri remain linked with potential returns to the Serie A, just as they have been for the last several years. But just as it’s also been the case for the last several years, there is no real money in Serie A for such moves.

Case in point, Marcos Alonso, who has two years still left on his contract at Chelsea. As Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia) report, Inter Milan would prefer a loan move — I know, shocking — but Chelsea are not interested in that at all. In fact, recent reports made it sound like Alonso isn’t going anywhere this summer either way, though if someone were to offer €15-20m, we apparently would be willing to talk. Doesn’t sound like we’re any danger of doing so however.

As before, there’s much greater urgency to arrange a deal for Emerson, who now has just one year left on his Chelsea contract. Fortunately, Napoli’s interest appears serious enough to maybe even congeal into an actual transfer bid, though as Corriere dello Sport (via Forza Italian Football) report, they have to arrange outgoing transfers for a couple players to raise the €20m we are asking for. But at least they’re trying?

It really makes no sense at this point to keep Emerson at Chelsea, for anyone involved, so hopefully we can indeed arrange a transfer for him in the next few weeks.
