Chelsea youngster Trevoh Chalobah is currently part of the squad as we begin preseason, but as things stand right now, he’s not expected to remain with the first-team for the season, despite three successful loan assignments in a row, including in the French top division last season with FC Lorient.
And while the younger of the Chalobah brothers still has two years left on his contract, it would appear that another loan isn’t on the cards either. In fact, most recent rumors had the 22-year-old closing in on a free (!) transfer to West Brom — a generous move on our part, even if he might not command a hefty transfer fee even in the best of markets.
But the Baggies may not be home and dry yet, as according to the Express & Star, they face a bit of late competition from fellow Premier League newcomers Brentford — West Brom won the Championship; Brentford finished third but won the playoffs.
Chalobah appears to have plenty of options to choose from (he reportedly has interest from abroad as well), so hopefully he can make the best possible one for his career.
