Marcos Alonso looks the less likely of Chelsea’s two backup left backs to leave this summer, and that status keeps getting confirmed by various rumors coming out of the never-ending fond of churn that is the Italian media.
That said, every player has a price as the old adage goes, and that price in Alonso’s case is €20m, according to Corriere dello Sport (via Sempre Inter). That certainly sounds like a solid way of saying “hands-off”, which makes sense from Chelsea’s perspective, assuming the Emerson rumors (Napoli bid?) eventually lead to an actual transfer. Otherwise we’re again stuck with excess left backs, and that’s not ideal for anyone involved.
Alonso remains on Inter Milan’s radar, by all accounts, but while new manager Simone Ingazhi is reportedly willing to be patient — probably part of the job requirement amid all the financial concerns at the club — they probably will need to figure out a different solution to fit into their budget for their wing-back needs. (Davide Zappacosta maybe, if other targets fall through?)
