West Bromwich Albion closing in on free(!?) transfer for Trevoh Chalobah — reports

West Bromwich Albion were reportedly in talks to sign Trevoh Chalobah, and those talks look to be nearing a fruitful conclusion for them, as per Express & Star and South London Press.

The younger of the Chalobah brothers is expected to complete the move next week. FC Lorient, where he was on loan last season, have also shown an interest, but the 22-year-old is apparently keen on staying in England.

The reports claim that despite having two years remaining on his contract, Chelsea are not expected to demand a transfer fee. This could have something to do with the current economic climate, although we will likely include other clauses in the deal then.

Trevoh is one of the more talented players to have come out of our academy in recent years, but his pathway to the senior team appears to be blocked. Having already impressed in a big European league last season, it does make sense for him to continue his progression elsewhere. (Ed.note: though it would’ve been nice to give him a proper shot first at the first-team...)
