Kingsley Coman went off to Euro 2020 without a new Bayern contract in hand, and he left Euro 2020 earlier this week still without a new Bayern contract in hand. Given that he had been busy playing for France in the meantime, that is entirely unsurprising.
But the rumor mill has continued to churn in the meantime, linking the 25-year-old with several Premier League teams, including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea. None of these seem to be anything more serious than paper talk, especially with incoming Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann supposedly keen on keeping Coman and, as per a report yesterday from Sky Deutschland (via Metro), Bayern setting their asking price at £86m after Liverpool lobbed a £40m low-ball in their direction.
That sounds like a lot, but it might be the going rate these days: Manchester United are set to pay that much for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. It seems unlikely that either Liverpool or Chelsea would do the same with Coman, but until he signs his contract extension (he has two years left currently), these sorts of stories won’t be going away.
