After yet another season spent on the fringes of the first-team, including just two Premier League appearances (one start), third-choice left back Emerson Palmieri is surely set to leave Chelsea this summer. Of course, we’ve heard stories like that for a couple years now, but with just a year left on his contract, it’s surely got to happen now.
Where he might end up is a lot less clear. Perennially linked Inter Milan are said to be interested again — especially as PSG are close to completing a deal for Achraf Hakimi despite some late Chelsea speculation to drive his price up — but they’re not exactly awash with cash. Napoli have also been mentioned, and could enter the picture if Chelsea keep dropping our asking price. The latest numbers out of Italy go as low as €5m, which is half of the €10m rumored just the other day, which in itself was already half of what Chelsea paid in 2018.
Meanwhile, Emerson himself is only focusing on the upcoming European Championships, since he’s still (surprisingly) a regular member of the Italian national team despite his lack of gametime at club level.
“For many months we have been talking about the market, about my return to Italy. Now I don’t even want to think about it. Really, I don’t care: I live in the present, play the European Championship and do everything to win it.”

A good tournament would certainly no go amiss as far as Emerson’s transfer prospects were concerned.
