In a rather familiar rumor, Inter Milan are supposedly back on the Emerson Palmieri “track”, having earlier been reportedly put off by Chelsea’s €20m valuation of the Italy international.
However, with Achraf Hakimi close to a departure, probably to PSG though still tenuously linked with Chelsea as well, Inter could conceivably find a bit of room in their budget for the 26-year-old Chelsea left back.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sport Italia (via FC Inter 1908), Emerson is the first-choice target to reinforce the wing-back position under new manager Simone Ingazhi, and apparently some discussions have already taken place with the player’s representatives, with the Nerazzurri asking Chelsea for a discount on the €20m asking price.
Inter will face competition from Napoli for Emerson’s signing, as per Il Mattino (via Sport Witness). Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Napoli have also started talks with Chelsea, although they are willing to play the long game to potentially sign him at a discount, around €8-10m, later in the transfer window.
