Marco van Ginkel is inching closer to his expected signing with PSV Eindhoven, and this time on a permanent basis. Fifth time is the charm, as they say, no?
The 28-year-old had joined PSV on loan no fewer than four times previously, though he’s been essentially their player since January 2016, in between breaks for surgeries and training back at Chelsea. It’s certainly been a strange career!
But now, at long last, there may be a sense of normalcy to it, as MvG is about to officially re-join the only team where he’s found some measure of success since joining Chelsea in 2013. According to the latest reports, he’s passed his medical and is set to sign a “multi-year” contract.
Van Ginkel’s move has been delayed by some bureaucratic considerations regarding the official end of his Chelsea contract, but that’s surely just a formality now — similar to the case of Danilo Pantić and FK Partizan.
Van Ginkel is expected to be able to join PSV training come next week, so presumably we’ll be hearing an official announcement of the “transfer” soon.
