Eden Hazard got into a bit of hot water by getting a bit too friendly with some of his friends still at Chelsea after the Blues’ victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinals, so he probably was quite careful in striking the right tones when asked about Chelsea’s victory in Saturday’s final.
“Of course [I did not celebrate], I’m a Real Madrid player so I am not happy. I am just happy for a couple of friends in the team, but I hope next season it’s for Real Madrid.”

We can rest assured that Eden was surely rooting for Chelsea, just as Ol’ Snakeyes, too.
Congrats @ChelseaFC , happy for my friends! Enjoy it!— Thibaut Courtois (@thibautcourtois) May 29, 2021
Hazard’s time at Real has been a bit of a disaster, even before his PR faux pas, and the local media are certainly pushing for him to leave. But this move has been Eden’s childhood dream and he’s not about to give up on it just because a few blowhards with microphones are making noise.

While his immediate focus is now on the upcoming European Championships with Belgium, after that, it’ll be back to work at Real and hoping to make up for the last two seasons. Hazard has three years left on his contract, and his plans certainly don’t involve a return to Chelsea.
“I still have a three-year contract with Real Madrid, so going back to England is out of the question.
“Everyone knows that my first two years were not good, so first I want to prove myself at Real Madrid. I will do everything to do that. I certainly don’t see myself leaving Madrid, given the contract situation.
“I know myself and I know when I’m in shape. If that’s the case, I can give it my all for Real next season. That’s my plan.”

We can wish nothing but good luck to Eden, except of course if we come across Real Madrid again in next year’s Champions League as we look to defend our Big Ears crown.
