Chelsea have been trying to offload at least one of Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso for what seems like forever, and especially after spending big to acquire Ben Chilwell last summer to give us three left backs, but such things are often easier said than done.
There’s been very little interest even just in terms of transfer rumors in Alonso, on big wages and a long-term contract at age 30, and there hasn’t been much more than the usual lukewarm churn about Emerson and his constantly impending return to Italy either.
More of the same comes from Goal, who claim that Emerson could have some real interest in him once again as he’s expected to feature for Italy at the upcoming European championships this summer. The report also claims that while Emerson’s contract expires in 2022, Chelsea do have an option for a one-year extension, which we could use to give ourselves extra leverage in negotiations — though at this point maybe it’s time to stop playing hardball in situations like Emerson’s.
With recent reports claiming that (unsurprisingly) Emerson himself wants to leave as well, surely we can work something out. In addition to the usual Inter Milan interest, Tuttosport note the usual Juventus interest as well, though apparently they want to swap Emerson for Alex Sandro, which seems rather unlikely, even in these trying economic times.
