Victor Moses is going to have to stock up on gloves and winter clothes, as it looks like he will be staying in Moscow for a while longer yet.

His current loan team, Spartak Moscow, have finished second in the Russian Premier League this season, with Moses himself scoring the equalizing goal in last weekend’s 2-2 draw to confirm their position, one point ahead of local rivals Lokomotiv.

The second place finish means that Spartak will be playing the qualifying rounds of the Champions League next season, and it also means that the conditions stipulated for the automatic redemption clause of around €5m in Moses’s loan contract have also been met.

This was confirmed by official Spartak sources today, with the deal presumably going through officially on July 1.

“His contract is automatically redeemed if the team finishes in the top three. We became the second.”

Moses scored 4 goals and added 4 assists in 19 games for Spartak. He’s been “different class” for them, according to their head coach, who had urged the team to make sure that Moses stays beyond just this season. Looks like his wish is granted.

It’s certainly fantastic to see Moses find success and maybe some stability as well after so many years in the Loan Army. Good luck!
