This summer looks to mark the end of Olivier Giroud’s time at Chelsea. After 3.5 seasons, there have been no indications of another contract extension for the 34-year-old striker, despite once again hitting double digits in goal — for the 14th consecutive season! — including four against Sevilla in a marvelous performance in the Champions League group stage.
Certainly Giroud still has some shine left on his scoring boots, and the (free) transfer market might appreciate that. For example, according to a report from La Gazzeta dello Sport, AC Milan are considering an approach.
This is certainly not the first time that Giroud has been linked with an Italian Serie A club. In previous years, he was listed as a target for Inter Milan, Lazio and AS Roma. But this time around, there is a higher probability that something might actually come to fruition especially if he leaves Chelsea. Milan did renew their ties with fellow striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for another year as well, but nothing indicates that to be an impediment in Giroud’s potential pursuit at the moment.
