Jadon Sancho is likely to depart Borussia Dortmund this summer, with both the club and the player hinting towards a move away. Chelsea are one of the many clubs interested in his signature, but the race could be set to get even harder.
According to the Telegraph, Bayern Munich, freshly crowned Bundesliga champions for the ninth time in a row, are prepared to join the race for the England international who’s been impressing over the last four years at Borussia Dortmund, one of Bayern’s many feeder clubs in the league. (Plot twist: they’re all Bayern’s feeder clubs.)
Incoming Bayern manager, Julian Nagelsmann will already have Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman as his wing options — Douglas Costa will return to Juventus after his loan spell ends — but if Sancho is on the move, Bayern would certainly want to at least make an attempt (as would most big clubs).
Dortmund have reportedly set Sancho’s asking price at around €90m, and while they are willing to offload him this summer to maximize his transfer value (his contract expires in 2023), they are unlikely to prefer selling to Bayern Munich, which should give Chelsea a slight advantage in principle.
