The newest name on the Chelsea rumor block is young Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the Blues are pursuing the 18-year-old, and will face competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Atlético Madrid for his signature.
Gravenberch is one of the highest rated youngsters on the planet. He made his senior debut for Ajax back in 2018-19, and has gone on to make over 50 appearances for the first-team — and he’s still a month shy of his 19th birthday! He even has three national team caps for Netherlands. Primarily a central midfielder, the Ajax Academy product is also proficient at playing a deeper holding role. He has scored 4 goals and provided 6 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
His reported asking price is €35m, although there is a belief that Ajax will eventually ask even more for one of the biggest talents to have emerged from their academy — and that’s certainly saying something. His current contract runs through 2023, and he is represented by the one and only Mino Raiola.
