The latest generational talent of European football, Eduardo Camavinga doesn’t look likely to sign a new contract with his current club, Rennes, and the logical outcome of that situation would therefore be the 18-year-old leaving this summer. His current deal expires in 2022 and Rennes would obviously not want to lose him for free.
However, Rennes are said to be holding out for €40m at the moment, which appears to be too much for either of the front-runners in this transfer scramble. Bayern Munich had supposedly intensified their interest recently, but according to SPORT1 journalist Florian Plettenburg, they do not have much of a chance even if they were willing to pay the fee. Camavinga is said to be favoring a move to Real Madrid — how boring! — though with Real having some financial problems, that may not be happening either.
And that just might give Chelsea the necessary window of opportunity, especially with Camavinga intent on changing clubs this summer.
Update #Camavinga: #FCBayern is still interested in him. However, there are reports from his environment that FCB has "no chance". Rennes expects over 40 million €. He's desperate to leave the club this summer. His dream destination is @realmadrid. @SPORT1 #MeineBayernWoche

One new addition to Chelsea’s midfield rumor mill is Pape Matar Sarr of Ligue 1 side FC Metz. According to L’Equipe, the 18-year-old’s strong performances this season, his first season in European football, have been noticed by several big clubs, including Chelsea, Everton, and Newcastle United. OGC Nice are apparently also monitoring his progress, and possibly tabling an early €12m bid to sign him.
Sarr has made 21 senior team appearances for Metz this season and has scored 3 goals across all competitions. Primarily a defensive midfielder, he can also play further up the field. His current contract runs to 2025.
