PSG had been keeping tabs on David Alaba’s contract situation since last summer, apparently, but they were a bit late to the rumor mill party that’s been going on even before Alaba confirmed that he was going test the free agent market this summer.
But PSG are wasting no time now, and are said to be holding talks and even making a formal offer. In fact, according to Sky Germany (via tz), the French champions could very well overtake Real Madrid for the lead in the transfer race by offering Alaba a chance to play in midfield, which apparently is his dream position. Oh, and they’d also hand him wages bigger than he’d get in Madrid, which may be an even dreamier proposition at the end of the day.
Both teams (and both leagues) are feeling the effects of COVID-19 however, which might yet play a big role in this whole scene — perhaps even getting long-forgotten Chelsea back in with a shout, should we so choose.
