Caicedo was widely regarded as one of the most talented prospect currently playing in South America, with his technique and tenacity on the ball apparently making him a perfect combination of Paul Pogba and our very own N’Golo Kante. That sounds a bit too good to be true, though the fact that Brighton managed to attain him for just €5-6m surely makes him one of the best signings in this low-key winter transfer window of 2021.
The 19-year-old has made 31 senior appearances already, and has been capped 4 times as well at such a young age. While Chelsea have missed out on his transfer for the time being, he’ll certainly be one to keep an eye on in the future.
