Newcastle United have money to spend but no transfer window to spend it in until January at the earliest. How much actual business they may be able to do then remains to be seen, but they’re certainly an easy target to link with any and all potential transfer targets.
One such target might be Timo Werner, who’s on their wishlist, as per Sport BILD — citing a connection with Werner’s agent, who also represents current Newcastle defender Fabian Schär.
Werner’s future at Chelsea has been thrown into a bit of doubt with Romelu Lukaku’s arrival, and Werner’s omission from the starting lineup in the first few weeks certainly added to the speculation. However, Thomas Tuchel has been trying to find a system where Werner can co-exist with Lukaku — and appeared to be making some progress before they both got injured in the same match. Of course, that by no means assures Werner’s future at the club — it will be his performance over the course of the season that will give a clearer indication of where he might end up.
Other recently rumored players on Newcastle’s wish-list include the likes of Niklas Süle, Filip Kostić and Philippe Coutinho, as well as managers Ralf Rangnick and Lucien Favre, which certainly looks like a substantial upgrade over their current personnel!
True ✅ @NUFC ist interested in @TimoWerner. The agency of Werner has already a client with Fabian Schär at Newcastle and is regularly in contact with the Club @BILD_Sport pic.twitter.com/ZIybJKvUOd
