Chelsea pair, Faustino Anjorin and Lewis Bate have both been nominated for December’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
Bate had taken part in all three December wins over Leicester City, Tottenham and Manchester United, while Anjorin played against the Foxes and the Red Devils, and scored a brace while also providing two assists in the latter game. They join Bryan Fiabema on the list of Chelsea youngsters to be nominated for such an award this season.
The full seven-man shortlist is as follows:
- Faustino Anjorin (Chelsea)
- Lewis Bate (Chelsea)
- Folarin Balogun (Arsenal)
- Brad Lyons (Blackburn)
- Harry Chapman (Blackburn)
- Nathan Tella (Southampton)
- Harvey White (Tottenham)
The shortlist was chosen by the Premier League Football Development panel after PL2 clubs’ coaches nominated the best performances by opposing players in each league fixture in December. The PL2 will return on 15th January after the annual winter break, but both Anjorin and Bate are expected to feature before that, in our FA cup match against Morecambe.
In other news, Teddy Sharman-Lowe, who went on a season-long loan to League One club Burton Albion, has been recalled by Chelsea. While the exact reason behind Chelsea’s decision to do so is unclear, it could have something to do with fellow goalkeeper Prince Adegoke’s injury. Sharman-Lowe made three appearances, all of them cup games, for Burton.
This is now confirmed. Might be a move made with further goalkeeper reshuffling in mind but Chelsea have also had problems with three fit goalkeepers for two dev teams while Adegoke is out so Teddy will help with that immediately as well. https://t.co/9yZ7THUy01
