Chelsea are reported to hold a serious interest in Dayot Upamecano, and the those links have only gotten stronger since Thomas Tuchel took over the mantle of head coach at Stamford Bridge.

However, signing the 22-year-old will not be an easy task by any means, with Bayern Munich already declaring their interest in the RB Leipzig centre back as well. And according to Bild (via Bavarian Football Works), the Bayern hierarchy have already held “secret talks” with Upamecano’s entourage — who also represent current Bayern player Niklas Süle — in order to get a head start in the race.

Meanwhile, kicker are reporting that Bayern head coach, Hansi Flick has already spoken to Upamecano personally, in order to sell his vision and convey his plans for the highly rated center back.

While Upamecano isn’t expected to make his final decision immediately, Chelsea do appear to be on the back foot in this endeavor at the moment. It might be time for us to initiate some .... enticement .... tactics of our own — just like we did with Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner last year — if we’re serious about signing the player who has a release clause between €40m-€45m that comes into effect from July.
