Moises Caicedo may not be a household name (yet?), but his transfer saga has been one of the hotter ones in the calciomercato, largely due to his future potential and current bargain price. As reported earlier, Brighton & Hove Albion had become one of the favorites for the transfer thanks to their prior business history with Independiente Del Valle, and they had seemingly even reached an agreement with the player’s entourage.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano and Guardian, Brighton are almost over the finish line after reaching an agreement with the club as well.
Confirmed. Brighton now ‘confident’ to sign Moises Caicedo in the next days. The agreement with Independiente del Valle has been reached for €6m. #bhafc are now waiting for the work permit to complete the deal.

No ManUtd, no Chelsea, no Everton. Newcastle trying for days. https://t.co/AkWpVlKJqd
The Seagulls have had to beat out competition from the likes of West Ham United, Everton, Newcastle United, AC Milan, RB Leipzig, Ajax, Atlanta United and of course, Chelsea for the 19-year-old’s signature, and apparently still managed to get a deal done at a paltry €6m. They are now waiting for the required work permit and are said to be “confident” about completing the deal.
The young midfielder would have been a good signing for Chelsea as well, mostly thanks to his age and potential, but there’s always a possibility that we circle back around at a future date. Until then, we’ll have to contend ourselves with watching Caicedo play in the Premier League in another club’s colors.
