A good situation for the Chelsea loanee

Tiémoué Bakayoko is the toast of the town after scoring his first goal for Napoli, which just so happened to be the late winner against Udinese this weekend. Having become a key member of the squad since his arrival on loan from Chelsea, the 26-year-old midfielder is surely hoping that the good feels will continue, and not just this season but beyond as well.

His brother (and agent?), Abdoulaye intimated as much in a radio interview yesterday, saying that it’s in everyone’s best interest to continue this budding relationship.

“He is very happy for his first goal, it’s been a long time since he had scored the last one. The goal has boosted his self-esteem, he always want to help the team.”

“He has played for many clubs, but he is happy at Napoli, the results are there and this club would be an ideal option for the future. Napoli are Scudetto contenders, a positive ending is in everyone’s interest. Napoli will be his priority in June.”

Bakayoko’s big-money move to Chelsea from Monaco in 2017 certainly hasn’t worked out as anyone would’ve liked, but it’s nice to see him find a good situation at long last. Unfortunately, that alone doesn’t guarantee a happily ever after, especially in football where things can change in an instant.

“It’s too early to talk about that, there are many things that must be considered. He is on loan until the end of the season and he hasn’t talked to the club yet, but staying at Napoli would be a nice opportunity, we’ll see.”

Bakayoko’s loan may not have a buy-option built in, but if there is a will, surely we can find a way.
