Chelsea midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko’s set to try to his luck at AC Milan once again after the two teams reached an agreement in principle over a loan with an option to buy for next season. This is a similar arrangement to two years ago.
AC Milan are now close to reach an agreement with Chelsea to sign Tiemoué Bakayoko. Loan [€3m] with buy option [€30m]. Talks on to complete the deal. ⚫️ @DiMarzio @SkySport #Milan #transfers

As reported all along and confirmed by various transfer oracles yesterday, the agreement involves a paltry €3m loan fee with an option to buy at €30m. Bakayoko’s previous loans, to AC Milan and AS Monaco also had buy-options, so let’s not get too excited about that possibility.

Bakayoko spent a productive season in Milan a couple years ago, and while some of the principal actors have changed since — including head coach Gennaro Gattuso, who’s moved on to Napoli some time ago — the hope is that the 26-year-old midfielder will be able to replicate his success (and never give the ball away, as the song goes).
He does have two more years left on his Chelsea contract, so this would really be an ideal time for some team to pay a transfer fee and let us recoup some portion of the fee we deemed wise to spend in 2017 on the former Monaco man.
