There’s a little over a week to go in the 2020 summer transfer window, and Chelsea still have some extra legs to jettison at multiple positions. That includes the midfield, where the likely outcome is (at least) Ruben Loftus-Cheek leaving on loan. But others might join him as well, perhaps one of Ross Barkley or Jorginho.
It’s the latter who makes for better headlines, so that’s what we had seen over the weekend, when both Arsenal and PSG were linked with (loan?) moves for the 28-year-old. The latter’s head coach was even asked about that after their 2-0 win over Reims on Sunday.
Tuchel of course didn’t say much, and ended his answer with a laugh, but what he did say, leaves plenty of room for interpretation.
“Je ne peux rien dire, je ne peux pas commenter. Mais bien essayé.”
-Thomas Tuchel; source: Culture PSG
Which translates to something like “I cannot say anything, I can’t comment. But nice try...”
At the risk of reading way too much into this, can he not say anything because there is actually nothing to say or because there is nothing he’s allowed to or should/would say? It’s a pretty big difference.
That said, this rumor feels like a bunch of random nonsense — though not as much as the N’Golo Kanté-to-Manchester United tabloid special. But because we often say that you never know in football, we’ll have to keep an eye on the Jorginho situation this whole week, probably.
