Having successfully convinced ourselves that the future of Callum Hudson-Odoi, at least in the short-term, is not 100 per cent assured to be at Stamford Bridge — Lampard’s less than reassuring words haven’t helped! — here comes the entirely unsurprising story about Bayern Munich perking up their ears.
After all, the Champions of Europe and Germany strongly pursued the teenager just a couple seasons ago, and while since then he’s signed a new Chelsea contract and they’ve engineered a remarkable rebuild, they could use a couple additions yet. Bayern have already signed Leroy Sané this summer, but they lost both Ivan Perišić and Philippe Coutinho from last year’s team and are thus actively in the market for one more attacking signing.
Big night ahead for Hudson-Odoi. Bayern Munich still really like him, though they could only afford to do a loan deal in this window. He wants regular game time, but the wing competition is arguably even stiffer in Hansi Flick’s squad than it is at #CFC. Gnabry, Sane, Coman...

According to the Telegraph, “Bayern players believe” therefore that Hudson-Odoi could “finally” arrive, before the transfer window shuts in a couple weeks.
The interest is said to be only in a season-long loan, though if he did well, it would be safe to assume that Bayern would certainly push to keep him.
But that’s all hypothetical at the moment. There’s plenty of opportunism in this story, and while that doesn’t necessarily invalidate it, we probably should remain calm and keep all arms and legs inside the rumor vehicle at this time.
Hudson-Odoi’s set to “feature” against Barnsley tonight, which hopefully means a start and hopefully a good one at that.
