Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi was unable to find more than 226 minutes of playing time in the Premier League last season as our third-choice centre-forward, with Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud leading the charge under new coach Frank Lampard.

So in hopes to getting his goalscoring groove back, the Batsman is flying back to Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal, after extending his contract with Chelsea by an extra year, to June 2022. Palace reportedly have an option to buy as well, for an unspecified fee.

One of Batshuayi’s better spells since joining Chelsea in 2016 came during the second half of the 2018-19 season, when he was on loan at Selhurst Park the first time. After a terrible time at Valencia in the first half of that season, Michy would go on to score 5 goals in 11 Premier League matches, helping Crystal Palace to a 12th place finish.

So, the Batsman returns to South London, where he will be expected to deliver the goals required to keep the team in the Premier League, and also help take points away from Chelsea’s top-four (or title challenge?) rivals.

Good luck, Michy!
