While the Inter Milan track for Emerson Palmieri has gone a little cold in recent weeks due to Chelsea’s asking price as well as the Nerazzurri signing Aleksandar Kolarov from AS Roma, it would appear that Kolarov is being primarily brought in to play as a left-sided centre back in Conte’s back-three. As a result, Inter are still looking to sign a left wing-back, with Parma’s Matteo Darmian being linked as of late. But Emerson is still said to be the primary target.
But that just leaves us where we were before, with Inter looking for a discount and a bargain, and Chelsea giving none.
Case in point, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sempre Inter), Chelsea turned down a loan bid (with an option to buy) from Inter. We’re undoubtedly looking for something a bit more definitive for the 26-year-old, though that may be a tough ask in the current economic climate. Still, the Nerazzurri are said to be hopeful that Chelsea’s stance will soften in the coming days, especially as Emerson is now effectively just third choice at the club, if that.
Inter will need to sell players before buying however as per reports, although Chelsea’s apparent interest in Marcelo Brozović could have a role to play should we not be done in the market but fail to acquire the primary defensive midfield target, Declan Rice.
Chelsea are in advanced talks and really ‘confident’ to sign Edouard Mendy as new goalkeeper from Rennes [as per @JacobSteinberg]. The agreement is going to be completed on next days. Declan Rice still in the list as next target too. #CFC #Chelsea #transfers
